A "Common" Theme
Wild Bill and his friend Joe were back at it for another
season with Legends Outdoors. These avid
anglers and hunters have been on many an adventure each year with us and this
time they brought along Brendan who is Joe’s grandson. The cold morning warmed up quickly as the
trio of anglers traversed Lake Wallenpaupack aboard the pontoon boat. They fired around Keitech Baits and had many conversations
about their hunting exploits including the upcoming turkey season they will be
participating in. The bites were few and
far in-between as this legendary lake was being stingy on this spring day. They then got into a group of nice perch and
hauled in a dozen of them to get the momentum going. A pair of smallmouth bass also was caught as
the anglers basked in the sun and breathed in the fresh air. Numerous species of wildlife roamed the
shores and flew about as the entire lake seemed alive with springtime activity
from the creatures that inhabited the area.
After a few snacks and another lull in the action, Bill would hook into
a big fish. The 4# test screamed as it
peeled off the spool and the thoughts of a striped bass immediately came to
mind of all on board. The battle went on
and on as the power of this fish tested Bill’s stamina. It got caught in a tree for a bit before
coming loose and made some more runs pushing the knot and line strength to its
limits. Without exaggeration at about
the half hour mark the fish finally showed itself revealing it was a common
carp. Hooked in the mouth as it inhaled
the Keitech Bait Bill was throwing. The
fish was weighed and released after a photo and it wound up being a tick over
18 pounds. Amazingly this would be the
third carp all-time that this group landed in their days out with Legends
Outdoors. The outing would eventually come to a
close and the end to another chapter in the exploits of Wild Bill and his friends adventures with
Legends Outdoors.
