Double Dipping

Chef Dave along with wife Chrissy and son Jax came out for a two-day adventure with Legends Outdoors in April.  Day one was an out of state outing with a chilly morning and off and on winds that reminded us all that winter was not so far in the rear view mirror.  The goal was to pursue panfish and mix in a bit of northern pike fishing.  The yellow perch were biting decent early on and then Dave got into the crappies and worked at them thoroughly using Keitech Lures while wearing a Keitech Hoodie to even further his strong dedication and belief in their effectiveness.  Dave worked the baits with his light line and ultra finesse rod to entice many strikes on the day.   With yellow perch and crappie being what was mostly caught, he did catch white perch and a few bass including a hefty smallmouth bass in the mix.  No northern pike were hooked on the day, but all in all it was an awesome fish catching day for Dave and his family.  Dave treated everyone to his carefully prepared sandwiches consisting of smoked turkey topped with lettuce, tomato, home-made mixed berry goat cheese, and finished in a chipotle lime salsa.  He also provided macaroni salad and blueberry applesauce.  What a gourmet lunch it was!  Aside from the good fishing and food, they seen an abundance of wildlife on their outing.
Day two seen the trio adventure out on Lake Wallenpaupack via the Legends Outdoors pontoon boat.  It was another cold morning, but with hardly a breeze and bright skies.  The water was around 49-51 depending on location on this legendary lake.  Going for panfish and breaking away for striped bass a bit was the game plan on this day.  As it was the day before, the panfishing was solid and the secondary fish of the striped bass had zero interest and there would be no hookups of that species.  Regardless, the group caught well into the double digits of fish consisting of crappie and yellow perch.  There was also a bonus smallmouth bass caught and a few other strays mixed in.  Dave would also display his skills as a chef and provide the lunch yet again by making smoked turkey with arugula, tomato, bacon, brie cheese and sliced pears topped off  by a hot and sweet three-peppered jam accompanied with a homemade red bliss and dill weed potato salad.  The lunches are truly a treat!  The family had tons of fun aboard the pontoon boat and were treated to sights of bald eagles and many water fowl on the day as the lake was alive with spring life.  Dave was harvesting the panfish on this trip as he assists with a church fish fry outing as he is very involved with the preparation for their gathering.  We at Legends Outdoors would like to thank Dave and his family for coming out for another adventure and look forward to seeing them back again in the near future.
