The Makings of a Great Day

Not very long ago Rick and his son Steve were out with us on a Lake Wallenpaupack trip in March.  This time the local homeowners took out the Steve's sons CJ and Cole to share in some of the fun. The morning was chilly and the day was a gray skied day one with only a very slight breeze that meandered across the cold water without trying to be noticed. The tempo was upbeat in all four anglers as they were excited to be out together on an adventure such as this.  They sliced and diced the waterway with light line and Keitech Baits trying to provoke some strikes.  Provoke they did as in their full day of fun they caught some really nice crappie and perch along with a couple smallmouth bass mixed in the fray during the outing.  The big story of the day would be when grandfather Rick hauled in a monster of a crappie that measured 16-1/2" and 2# 4oz. as shown below.  WOW what a fish that is!  Time seemed to move so quickly on a day like this as they all enjoyed the fishing very much, the nice lunch the adults had packed of sandwiches and snacks, and just the all around company of each other on this outdoor adventure.  A soaring bald eagle was seen overhead to just put the cherry on top of this one and the day would come to a close, but not before a nice group photo was taken and some panfish were harvested for a fish dinner that the family thoroughly enjoyed!
