Mid-March fishing in NE Pennsylvania can be a puzzle that is very challenging to figure out. New Jersey Resident...Jim loves these types of challenges and welcomes them with open arms. He is a regular client with Legends Outdoors and was up for this challenge and on a new body of water for him to boot. A cold and calm morning in the 30's with water in the low 40's was the start of the day as Jim tested the waters with a variety of baits as he fished offshore to try and muster up some cold water bites. Things were very slow until he switched to a grub and caught a bluegill for his first fish of 2020 to get things rolling. A SW wind started to kick up a bit as the sun started to break through the morning clouds and the wind off the frigid water added another challenging element. After a good period without a bite, Jim picked up a Keitech Bait and caught three fish including two largemouth bass and a perch in a short time span as the wind started to calm and the sun started to really shine brightly. Jim was also armed with his traditional Wawa turkey hoagie, chips, and Twizzlers for nourishment on this bitter day to keep up his strength. The bite shut down for a bit again and Jim brought out a jigging spoon for some deeper water fishing and that switch immediately brought results in a couple of crappie, a perch, and the biggest bass of the day in a hefty largemouth shown below. That was an instinct move that proved fruitful for the veteran angler. The clouds then rolled in as the wind shifted to the north now and just like a light switch the fish turned off and for the next several hours in the slightly stained water. Jim did rustle up one more bluegill before the end of the day and it was hard earned one at that! All in all Jim had a great time and is looking forward to his upcoming scheduled spring trips with Legends Outdoors and we also are looking forward to seeing him back again with us.
