Crappie Even When It's Crappy

Returning clients Ricky and his son Steve went out on a March outing with Legends Outdoors recently.  This duo has done summer and fall trips with us, but wanted to try a late winter/early spring adventure and that is just what they did.  They like the Lake Wallenpaupack Area so much that they purchased a second home on the lake to enjoy it whenever they possibly can with their schedules.  This was still a winter day and it surely showed that as the high winds in the 15-20 MPH range out of the NW and air temperatures in the high 30's to possibly 40 or so reminded them where the calendar still was.  The frigid day had some sun during it which helped quite a bit, but detecting a bite in the persistent wind was surely a challenge.  They poked, prodded, and seined the depths of Lake Wallenpaupack for crappies and did just that as they mustered up about a dozen bites which were all from crappies.  They enjoyed some snacks and warm clothing to keep them lucid for the light bites in the cold water from the calico bass.  All fish caught on Keitech Baits, and one of the crappie landed was a whopping 15 1/2" 1# 8oz. giant.  The photo below depicts the joy this father and son got from a day out together on a body of water they truly love to fish.  We look forward to seeing this duo again in the near future.
