A Taste of Italy

Ronnie and his father Ron are avid outdoors-men and very active people indeed.   On a recent Mid-March trip they showed just that as they went out on a cold day and fished cold water at Lake Wallenpaupack.  Ronnie has caught Striped Bass with a flyrod before with us and tried it again, but to no avail as their early day pursuit of stripers resulted in not a single bite.  It was then on to phase two of the fishing for these two veterans of fishing Lake Wallenpaupack.  In fact Ron has a half century of fishing experience on Lake Wallenpaupack and enthralls us with his stories of yesteryear on this legendary body of water.  He is a strong man and hard working as he also has put in 60 years of being a mason and is fine at his craft indeed.  Ronnie was a former minor league baseball player and now teaches baseball techniques to the youths.  They both are also avid bowhunters and live for hunting and fishing alike and are rarely phased by a slow start to a day or a missed shot in the woods.  These pair of Italians kicked it into gear with light line and got the party started of catching fish as they picked up several crappies including a couple that exceeded 14", a couple perch mixed in, and three or four nice smallmouth all which would be caught on Keitech Baits.  With air temperatures in the high 30's to maybe 40 and the water hovering around that 40 degree mark, you could just see it in them regardless of the conditions that they were going to catch em'.  Ronnie made his famous Italian Hoagies with Prosciutto, roasted peppers and Italian Sauce right on the boat as shown in the photo to round out what what an overall great father/son trip yet again for Ron & Ronnie.  We look forward to seeing them back again with Legends Outdoors for another adventure.
