February Fallfish Festivities

Wild Bill and Joe were just out not too long ago on the frozen water of PA, but with the recent warming....an opportunity for open water occurred and they took advantage of this window to get out.  Showing that Legends Outdoors has something all year round for the beginner and the most season anglers alike, these two veteran anglers headed out on this calm and overcast day.  All of nature just seemed “alive” as ducks, geese, and even turkeys were present as they slipped silently though the chilly February Waters.  The main fish that was intended to be pursued was the brown trout and with that Bill and Joe flung around light line and Keitech Baits to try and lure one of these cold water predators to take the offering.  The air was in the 30’s and it would eventually creep into the 40’s, but the dampness lurked off of the water and chilled the hands of the pair of anglers.  Firing casts with a slow and steady pace, the temptation overtook several of the Pennsylvania fish as the serenity was broken by thrashing fish as two nice sized brown trout were hooked.  Although they were carefully played out, the trout shook free of the hooks and swam away from the boat and the opportunities were lost.  That didn’t deter these two men as they kept at it and….kept at it some more. They were treated with several more takers of mostly the fallfish species which fought valiantly in the chilly waters before being released by the anglers.  They got 11 of them on the day which is quite a rarity for that many in one outing.  They also caught a nice hefty perch and an undersized pickerel.  The men would enjoy the sights and sounds of the winter setting and took sips from their thermoses to warm their bodies while nibbling on snacks in-between.  The day would eventually wind down and another one for the books for Bill and Joe.  We look forward to seeing them back again very soon with Legends Outdoors for more on the water fun.
