New York Mixer
Legends Outdoors Faithful, Alex took a three-day trip out with Legends Outdoors in Mid-September in the beautiful state of New York. Day one of the leg gave Alex a light north wind, overcast skies the entire day, and water in the high 60's. He used a variety of methods on this day including spinnerbaits, Keitech Baits, and drop shot to hammer away at the fish that lived in the pristine waters. He caught smallmouth bass, perch, rockbass, and a pickerel while enjoying exploring the lake and catching over 30 fish total. He enjoyed a Subway Hoagie and a Monster Energy Drink to fuel his first day of action before calling it a day. Day number two he would be off to a different lake; one he has never been on before. There would be a drop in temperature and a cloudy morning to start and a strong south wind projected for the day. Alex would have a spotty day, but would make do as he would catch a decent amount of fish including several smallmouth bass, a pickerel, and a perch mostly on dropshot. The sunshine increased steadily and so did the wind as the whitecaps built steadily on the north end of the lake making conditions extremely difficult. He would enjoy yet another Subway Hoagie and another Monster Energy Drink once again as he learned another body of water. The wind projections for day three were not pretty at all, so it was off to lake number three and yet another new one for the Long Island Resident. The cloudy skies and hampering south winds plagued the hardcore angler, but he would let the conditions deter him. He hooked into a monster smallmouth bass that lit up his eyes as the beast jumped once. It dove down and then jumped again throwing the lure and crushing his hopes for a bit. He was very excited and encouraged, but the bite was tough and the algae bloom was strong. From spot to spot he went trying different techniques and lures and did wind up catching a few fish, but it would be a struggle. All in all it was a fun time and a great learning experience. Alex as always is a trooper and loves to try different techniques and places to fish. Alex surely will return in the spring of 2020 and we look forward to seeing him as always!
