What a Difference a Day Makes
Steve along with his sons Steve and Sean returned to Lake Wallenpaupack in the spring of 2019 for another vacation and a few days of fishing. Staying right on the lake they were amped up for a set of back-to-backers aboard the Legends Outdoors Pontoon Boat. Day one seen these anglers have a calm, sunny, and warm day. They tried for a few hours in the morning of day one with live bait for striped bass, but even with determined patience...there were no takers and part II of Day 1 would then ensue. They switched over to Keitech Baits and topwater and had some solid success via smallmouth bass, pickerel, a few panfish and a nice largemouth bass. They enjoyed the beautiful day with snacks and drinks and basked in the springtime sun while the chorus of birds sang throughout the days in the shoreline trees. Day 2 would roll around, and what a contrast it would be. A cold front moved in and a brutal wind swept across from the lake right from the get go. Once again the trio of anglers tried with live bait for a big striped bass, but with no bites and boat maneuverability an issue with the white caps rolling across Lake Wallenpaupack, they went to part II much earlier than on Day 1. The topwater bite was not nearly as productive as the day before, as the chop and cold temperatures wreaked havoc on that pattern although it was hard for Steve Jr. to put it down as he was trying to recapture the glory of yesterday. Sean in the meantime started to really put them in the boat with Keitech and shortly afterwards all three anglers were slinging them around. With jackets on and a mix of sun and clouds that were ripping through the skies, these men plodded on cast after cast with determination and intensity as they carved up the waters thoroughly. They had an absolute banner day as they caught many smallmouth bass including some really nice ones, largemouth bass, perch, pickerel, and several rockbass on the day. They had some snacks and beverages also on day two, but didn't take much time for those as the action was fast and furious. Steve Jr. even caught a nice smallmouth off the dock where they were staying and sent us the picture to include below. A special thanks to Steve as he made a nice collage video to music for Legends Outdoors from their trips and we do appreciate that and their passion for the sport. It was a great trip overall and we look forward to seeing this group back again next year for some more Lake Wallenpaupack action.
