David and his family took a journey from Long Island, New York to do some ice-fishing in Wayne County, Pennsylvania with Legends Outdoors. His son always wanted to try this sport and has spoken to David often about it. David's brother has a home not too far from the lake and this made it a nice convenient situation to get the family together for this mini vacation. The boys and girls who are part of the cub scouts and girl scouts out in Long Island felt very comfortable and right at home in the outdoors during the outing. This was quite a learning experience for them as they learned about using jig rods and tip-ups to pursue the fish, using the electronics to see the fish and depth, the auger that drills the holes, and even at the end were showed how to fillet the fish by the Legends Outdoors Staff. They had an extremely calm day with highs in the high 20's or low 30's making it very comfortable for all. They had plenty of early action with the jig rods and flags that produced bluegill, sunfish, perch and pickerel for the group. They tried to catch some bass also, but never did get one of those on the trip as the largemouths and smallmouths of the lake ignored their offerings. They had some freshly grilled hot dogs on the ice as the smell of them being cooked trickled through the stagnant crisp air. The day brought so much happiness and excitement to the entire group as they had the total experience during the outing and we hope David and his family enjoyed their trip to Pennsylvania and we hope to see them again in the future for some more wintertime fun.
