Chain Reaction

Joe who has been out with Legends Outdoors many times over the years once again came out for another adventure and brought along his nephew Nate who made an open water appearance with Joe many months ago.  This would be Nate's first time ice-fishing and it would turn out to be a memorable one!  The duo did a late morning until afternoon trip with ideal weather consisting of sunny skies, no wind and very comfortable temperatures of high 30's that may have skimmed 40.  Joe and Nate jigged and fished with bait on the tip-ups seeking some action from the fish that swam beneath the frozen surface.  The action was moderate as they were kept busy with some nice bluegills and perch on the jig rods and a few flags here and there.  Nate was enjoying himself tremendously and was treated to his very fist venison meal with the venison sliced and put onto a nice soft bun with BBQ sauce slathered about it.  There were plenty of laughs and smiles during the day and Nate's grew much wider when a flag went off and the spool screeched with purpose as the unknown fish took the offering and headed for the depths of Lake Wallenpaupack.  Nate followed the guide's instructions to a tee and set the hook and fought the fish brilliantly before it was brought to the hole and out onto the ice.  A giant 26 3/4" chain pickerel flopped about on the ice and posed with Nate for a splendid photo and punctuated an overall great day for Joe and Nate.
