Crossing the Delaware
For the 4th consecutive year, Kevin and his crew from Delaware crossed the river and headed north for some ice-fishing on Lake Wallenpaupack. The group who are mainly teachers, rented a house and did some other outdoor activities on the trip before punctuating it with a trip with Legends Outdoors. The morning was dead calm, temperature in the teens and clear skies overhead. The ice was moderately slick and had about 8" of thickness for this group of seven to enjoy their day out together. It didn't take long for the flags to start flying as the action was consistent most of the day with some heavy spurts mixed in. A perch here and a perch there was brought up by the anglers with many of them good sized for harvesting for fillets. The pickerel were also voracious on this outing as several of them took the offerings and were caught by the group including a 25" by the group leader Kevin. There were also three smallmouth bass and a largemouth bass caught, but these were released back into the cold waters of Wallenpaupack. The anglers also landed a few nice bluegill in the mix on jig rods and some of the perch fell for the jigged offerings just the same. The Legends Outdoors staff prepared venison jalapeno hot dogs, pickled pickerel, and venison vegetable stew for the meals today. This along with a few beverages really hit the spot as the sun shone bright during the day warming the anglers in the brisk temperatures that steadily climbed into the 20's. Newcomers to the group this year were Jimmy, Tyson and Bill who all caught on quickly and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Kevin, Paul, Dan and Justin were part of the original crew and weren't going to miss this annual trek to spend time with their friends and enjoy some outdoor activities. A great time was had by all as many a story was shared by the group of anglers and the Legends Outdoors Staff alike. Kevin and his crew will be back again next year for some more ice-fishing and we at Legends Outdoors look forward to to hosting their adventure again in 2020.
