Long time client "Wild Bill" and his friend Joe were not so long ago ice-fishing on Lake Wallenpaupack with Legends Outdoors and today it must have felt similar with the snow on the shoreline and the frigid temperatures in the air. Bundled up for a late March excursion, this duo braved a stiff ESE wind that caused tearing eyes and it also had cloudy skies overhead. This was surely a hardcore mission searching for early spring perch. With the water only in the very high 30's, they used extremely light line and Keitech Baits to entice dozens and dozens of perch strikes on this outing. Amidst the subtle perch strikes, they also landed two nice pickerel and also lost a big smallmouth bass that was well over 3# before it got to the surface and tried to do a tail walk, but due to its slowed down metabolism it couldn't quite perform the acrobatic act, but none the less shook the bait free from its jaws. Chapped hands, red faces, and runny noses didn't hold them back as they totaled around 90 boated fish for the day. The livewells shown full of perch topped out at 60 and were filleted and surely will make for a nice Lenten meal in this Easter season and many more this year.
