Super Bowl Sunday Sojourn
Four friends from Long Island, N.Y. got together for a weekend in the Poconos on Super Bowl weekend. One of their activities in this weekend of fun and excitement was to get out for a day of ice-fishing. Alex, Chris, Joe who are all returning Legends Outdoors, brought along friend Nick for his first adventure with us. Saturday night into Sunday morning brought a cold front and snow storm that covered the roads and ice for the journey to the lake and for the fishing adventure. The four men are all fishermen, but all first-time ice fishermen as this was their maiden hard-water voyage. The overcast day had a bite to it as the light wind along with temps in the 20's made for some chilly hands. The holes were drilled and the tip-ups were placed about the general area. Jigging rods were also used by this quartet to pursue their quarry. The anglers had moderate action during the outing with a decent amount of flags, but the jigging was paltry as the panfish were not very agreeable on this day. The group caught a bunch of pickerel, several perch, and a bluegill on the outing. They enjoyed sandwiches, snacks and beverages during the trip and learned quite a bit about ice-fishing. The day would wind down as they headed back to New York for Super Bowl parties and to return to their families. We look forward to seeing members of this group back again in the open water and we're glad they made the journey to the Poconos for a mini winter vacation.
