Big Water Bassin'

Ed and Ed who are New Jersey Residents and Legends Outdoors regulars wanted to do some smallmouth bass fishing.  They planned a two-day late June trip to New York State and made reservations in preparation for the outing. Ed Sr. grilled up some nice steaks and corn coupled with potato salad the evening before day one at the house which was a real treat.  The morning of the first day was cool and the wind was blowing a bit making for some decent chop on the water.  Ed and Ed hooked up with a few nice smallmouths in the morning and landed a few.  The biggest one jumped and threw the hook as they so often do.  The anglers took a break and went back to the house for a few hours before heading out for an evening jaunt.  The smallmoth bite was paltry as they were being very elusive and tight lipped, so Ed and Ed did some largemouth fishing to close out the day.  They caught about half a dozen of the green variety on soft plastics before calling it a day.  Plans for day two were being discussed and another great lunch was being packed by Ed Jr. for the boat.  Ed Sr. had brined a brisket for six days and then dry rubbed and wrapped it for 24 hours before smoking it for 14 hours to produce the pastrami that these delicacy sandwiches were made of!  Day two seen much better weather as far as warmer temperatures and calming winds.  It didn't take Ed Sr. long to get hooked up and the day had a good start right out of the gate.  Periods of action and lulls were in store as it was hot and cold for the day, but they had decent action and learned some new techniques and used some different baits they had not used before to expand their repertoire.  They had some really nice battles with these big water smallmouths and thoroughly enjoyed their experience.  An overall great father and son fishing trip!
