Feline Fascination

Paul is an avid fisherman that loves to hunt big fish.  He has a special liking to the catfish species and likes to pursue them when he can.  In early June he traveled to Lake Wallenpaupack for three days of the pursuit for big fish.  Days one and two he brought along Sean while day number three Ed was the guest on board the Legends Outdoors Pontoon Boat.  The first day was a nice overcast and calm day as they set out their livers and other baits on the rods to attract the whiskered fish that swim in this legendary lake.  After sometime a strike occurred and the battle was on with what would turn out to be a channel catfish that tipped the scales at just over 8 pounds.  It was cause for celebration for sure!  The waited patiently and fished and fished without any other takers.  They would break it down and go to casting for a multitude of species with Keitech Baits thereafter and caught a nice variety of gamefish and panfish for the last few hours of day number one.  Day number two seen a west wind and sun and it was a new day to try it again.  The myriad of baits were once again put out in different areas and bites were once again tough to come by, but they did manage a solid brown bullhead for their efforts making it another score on a whiskered fish.  They would once again break it down and go to plan B for the day and caught a nice group of fish to wind down day number two as we said goodbye to Sean.  Day number three they decided to go for striped bass for a good part of the day and the tactics would be much different.  The hopes were high and got even higher as a vicious strike occurred as the tell tale hit from a striped bass connected with the bait and the battle was on!  Back and forth they went when the fish took a rapid surge and snapped the line sending a sigh of disbelieve across the boat.  The anglers would recover and keep at it though.  They would not get any more takes from stripers so it was on to the Keitech Pattern for some good action.  All in all on the three days these guys would enjoy hoagies, snacks, and some great stories and conversations.  They compiled at least ten fish per day in that of pickerel, smallmouth bass, crappie, perch and of course the catfish and bullhead.  The really enjoyed the adventure and had a great time exploring the lake with Legends Outdoors.  Paul is going to continue his focus on catching big fish at Lake Wallenpaupack and will keep us updated on his endeavors!
