Jim's Fall Giant

Jim is no stranger to fishing with Legends Outdoors and that he did again in late October.  The crisp morning had that fall scent in the air that is unmistakable of wet leaves from a rain the day before and high blue skies.  He set out on the lake with high hopes of giants that would be prepping for the winter that was upcoming and were feeding with that in mind.  A very slow start without a bite as he switched baits from this to that in search of a strike that would key him in on an area or pattern was how it was playing out.  Finally a "smash" on the end of the line and a fierce battle was on.  The fish stayed down and swam back and forth with great power as Jim fought it out carefully on a GLoomis Rod before it was seen below the surface.  It made one final lunge and tail walked a bit on the surface before it was brought towards the net and the lunker of the day was netted.  A 5.13# smallmouth bass that is a fish of not only a season to many, but a bass of a lifetime for others.  This was a true beauty and it posed for a few photos before swimming away back into the lake.  Hopes were much higher as the mood inside the boat was on an upswing.  That momentum lasted for sometime, but eventually faded as Jim hit many depths and with many different lures in many parts of the lake without any more success.  The lake seemed void of life as a slight north wind picked up a bit and above average water and air temps had Jim scrambling for answers, but none were to be found.  Finally after a full day out and a sandwich, potato chips, and a gatorade....he would land one more legal smallmouth bass on a staple of Legends Outdoors fishing in a Keitech Bait right before they packed it in.  Although the action was paltry, he did land what he set out to do and that was a monster smallmouth!
