Five Courses of Fishing

Carl and his son Matthew have been making an annual trek to the Lake Wallenpaupack area to fish with Legends Outdoors for many years and 2019 would be no different.  Each year the month may change or the particular week of that month, but they make they journey from Virginia unwavering.  This year's version would be a five day marathon in early October.  Days 1 and Days 5 would have the most success as far as fishing, while days 2, 3, & 4 were much more lean, but still resulted in catches and plenty of fun.  Matthew and Carl fished quite a variety of baits and water depths all about the lake during the marathon.  They threw crankbaits, Keitech Baits, drop shot, tubes, live bait, and so on and so forth as the puzzle of each day was trying to be unlocked and also Carl and Matt were learning some new baits/techniques that they never fished before so it was a good learning experience also.  They seen overcast and rain on day 1, day #2 had a decent bite to the air and some wind, day #3 was overcast and cool with a stiff wind that built up, day #4 was blue skies and flat calm, while the final day was calm and a bit cooler with again high blue skies.  The anglers had a variety of sandwiches and snacks on their days out while having plenty of conversations of the goings on of the past year and plans for the future.  The drawn down lake with water temps in the lower 60's produced smallmouth bass of many sizes including some really hefty ones as seen below.  It also yielded some pickerel, largemouth bass, rockbass, sunfish, bluegill, perch, and even a very broad northern pike that came in at 33" in length as Carl was all smiles holding up this mighty predator.  They once again had a spectacular time out on Lake Wallenpaupack and also in their time off the water as they also enjoyed a very nice dinner at Gresham's Chop House on Thursday evening and some other activities.  We would like to thank Carl and Matt for once again having Legends Outdoors host their fishing based vacation and look forward to seeing them back again in the year 2020!
