Pair of Jacks
Kooch who is a Legends Outdoors regular; whose real name is Jack had given his father Jack Sr. a gift for Father's Day of a guide trip out with us. Jack Sr. has also been out with us several times before was chomping at the proverbial bit to get out as he thoroughly enjoys his time out on Lake Wallenpaupack. Kooch has a place right on the lake, and this father/son duo were picked up at their dock in the morning of the outing. They strolled out with the Legends Outdoors Pontoon Boat for a start with live bait for stripers and the like. There would be no takers on the bait and so this pair would switch to Keitech Baits for the next phase of the day. Kooch and Jack soaked in the heat of the dead calm day as they were hardly disturbed by other boats as the boat traffic was only moderate for such a nice day as they fished about. They had some nice cold beverages and snacks as they slung the Keitech around anticipating strikes. Strikes they would have as they caught a good number of perch that were kept for filleting and also some nice smallmouth bass and pickerel that were caught and released back into the lake. In the midst of all the laughs, casts, food, beverages, and conversation an unmistakable smack from a striped bass slammed Jack's offering and after the hook was set....the battle was on! Back and forth they went like two prized boxers in the ring as this went about 10 rounds as Jack had to be extra careful with the light line he was using. They would both dodge and parry before the striped bass eventually stood triumphant as it pulled free from Jack's hook, but Jack never threw in the towel or gave up on that battle, it was just a part of the game as he fought it valiantly. This lost opportunity was of course disappointing, but in no way deterred their good time out together as a father and son enjoying this splendid day on Lake Wallenpaupack, and we were very happy to host this "Pair of Jacks" for this Father's Day Gift Outing!
