Bill and a Big Ol' Greenie
Bill and his wife Karen came in from Arizona for a vacation and were staying at the Lake Tanglewood area for a week in August. Bill grew up on a farm in New York State and wanted to visit his old homestead on one of the days during his stay which he did the day before his trip out with Legends Outdoors. He and his wife take a vacation at least once a year and go to some very interesting places indeed such as Europe and many places about the USA. On this day Bill would be flying solo out on the lake as he was picked up from the dock on this very calm, hazy, and mostly overcast day. The lake was very drawn down for this time of the year and also had a very green tint and or film to the water due to algae blooms. The morning started out slowly as Bill picked up a fish here and there as the bite was a bit off indeed. Upon their third stop, the rod buckled as Bill set the hook and a battle with a nice fish was on! Back and forth the fish went trying to dislodge the hook, before it finally came to the surface and revealed itself as a very thick and healthy largemouth bass. Bill worked it towards the net and this healthy specimen posed for a photo before being returned to the lake. What a nice battle and fish that was for this Arizona Resident! Bill kept at it for the entire trip and caught some perch, sunfish, and a few other smallmouth bass as the action was very intermittent. He did have a really nice smallmouth hooked that he fought valiantly as it kept jumping and digging and a few feet from the net threw the hook as it must have been camera shy. Bill enjoyed a nice tuna fish hoagie from Subway and some diet Mountain Dew out on the lake while he soaked up the sights and sounds of this scenic waterway and shared in the stories of his adventures in life. He truly had a splendid day out, and we wish he and his wife Karen all the best in all their future endeavors.
