Heading North to New Waters

NJ residents of Jim and Ryan made their July trek north to the state of New York for this month's trip.  Jim is quite a regular and Ryan has come along with him on more than one occasion. Their two day journey seen day one with a chill in the air in the morning, but quickly warming with bright blue skies and a slight summer breeze.   Expectations were high as the anglers left the hotel and the day didn't disappoint in the slightest as it was a fish here and a fish there type of deal as they patrolled the lake for smallmouth bass catching some really good size fish. As the day progressed....so didn't the action as Jim and Ryan got on quite a roll.  Ryan was learning a new technique so the ample opportunities helped him in understanding the ins and outs. Bites would come fast and furious at times as the aerial assaults that these feisty smallmouths performed were quite intense indeed.   The anglers had plenty of laughs and smiles on this day as they caught over four dozen smallmouth bass in quite a range of sizes with many in the hefty range as shown below.  They had some hearty snacks and plenty of laughs out on the water during day number one.  They would end the long day with a solid double by Jim and Ryan before heading back to the hotel for the day.  They celebrated the day out and the trip with a nice dinner and some good conversation.  After a good night's sleep after a long day, they got a later start to day two for a bit shorter of a day.  More wind was projected for day two and some possibly severe thunder storms, so they were on a different body of water.  They got some hearty hoagies and beverages for the day and headed out.  Bites were tough to come by and after trying a few different things, they dialed in that spinnerbaits were working the best on this breezy day.  They did bounce around a few different areas and alternated back and forth with a variety of tactics and baits to try and catch the finicky fish on this day filled with wind, passing storms, and eventually bright sun.  The two friends would catch a few bass, pickerel, perch and rockbass medley on this day as they had a great time exploring some new waters and enjoying a great vacation together.  We look forward to seeing Jim and Ryan back again later in the year.
