"FLY"N HIGH

Ronnie and long time fishing friend Jay went out for Stripers with Legends Outdoors on an early April day.  These two friends are into hunting and have fished for a multitude of species including in tournaments. Ronnie has really gotten involved with fly fishing and was hoping for an opportunity to try and catch one via the fly rod.  The day started out bouncing here and bouncing there in search of the illusive striped bass. A fickle east wind coupled with rain, thunder, and lightning tested the anglers as they did manage a few smallmouth bass while pursuing these big eyed beauties.  The next move they made proved detrimental as they found a school of them and hooked up over ten times and landed a bunch and lost a couple before Ronnie broke out the fly rod and gave it a go at it.  After a few more that came unbuttoned, Ronnie hooked into the giant seen below and fought it for many minutes before it was landed.  This would be the first confirmed Striped Bass catch with Legends Outdoors on a fly rod and a memorable one at that!  All in all they boated about ten stripers on the day including a couple double hookups as the action was intense during the melee they partook in.
